Hello, I am Mattia.
I am a data scientist and engineer specializing in medical-grade algorithms, digital biomarkers, and regulatory-grade data systems for digital health.
I work at the intersection of signal processing, machine learning, and SaMD validation, with a focus on turning complex physiological data into robust, deployable, and regulator-ready products (SaMD).
I am co-inventor of 10 patents and author of 40+ peer-reviewed publications in digital health and medical-grade algorithms.
What I Do
- Develop multi-sensor algorithms for continuous monitoring
- Non-invasive, minimally invasive and non-invasive continuous glucose monitoring
- Cardiovascular monitoring from PPG data - Heart rate, Blood oxygenation, Respiratory Rate, etc.
- Activity monitoring - IMU and GPS based activity classification, gait analysis
- Smartphone touch events algorithms for characterizing cognition and upper limbs functions
- Build end-to-end data pipelines from device to submission-ready outputs
- Design systems aligned with FDA and MDR requirements, ensuring reproducibility, traceability, and data integrity
- Translate pathophysiological processes into measurable digital biomarkers
- Modelling and simulation of physiological processes for in-silico pre-clinical evidence generation
- PKPD modelling and simulation for drug development and digital health products
- Technical, analytical and clinical validation of digital health products, including conceptualization and contribution to clinical trials design and execution

I am currently working on digital twins for digital health products leveraging continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) data at Roche.
